We sow, tend, harvest, cook, and eat. Melinmac cooks is our collection of tried and true recipes, interwoven with garden lore and snippets of memories. These recipes are ours. I hope that you’ll try them, enjoy them, and make them yours too.

It’s November and our gardens have been put to bed. There’s frost on the grass most mornings, but the house is warm; time to give thanks.

P.S. – If you’ve ever made any of my recipes, I’m hoping that you printed them out and you still have them. My blog went into the nether lands while I was trying to migrate to WordPress (long, sad story), and the backups that my hosting provider maintained were corrupted somehow. They were only able to restore my site from where it was in October 2023, which means I’ve lost nearly a year of content (November 2023 through September 2024). I’m trying to recreate what I’ve lost, so if you have any snippets of anything from the previous year, please send it to me! For the record, I did NOT cry. There’s no crying in blogging!

Not only will you find fantastic, seasonal recipes on this site, you’ll find musings on food, cookbooks, cooking, and entertaining. The Index of Recipes and the About Us pages are good places to start. This all began with a restaurant habit. Now we do it ourselves – we grow, cook, and eat our own veg, and buy most of our meat and dairy locally. If only we could grow lemons and coffee in Connecticut! We do still patronize restaurants for fun and inspiration, just not as often as we once did. It’s all good. Welcome to melinmac cooks!
