Charred Asian Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 pound thin green beans
  • 3 cloves garlic

SAUCE

  • 2 T oyster sauce (gluten-free)
  • 2 T tamari
  • 1 T brown sugar
  • 2 T sesame oil
  • ¼ t red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Prep the veg – Destem and trim the green beans, as necessary. Smash the garlic.
  • Mix the sauce – Add the oyster sauce, tamari, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper to a small bowl. Whisk to combine.
  • Sauté the veg – Add a small amount of olive oil to a hot pan. Add the green beans and smashed garlic, and cook for about 5 minutes or until the beans are crisp-tender. Don't stir any more often than you need to – you want a slight char, but you don't want to scorch the beans.
  • Finish – Add the sauce to the pan, and stir to coat the beans with the sauce. Cook for about 2 minutes more, the remove from the heat.
