Air-Fried Brussels Sprouts is a copycat recipe that I’m quite happy to share with you. Fried Brussels sprouts are having a moment on restaurant menus right now. People who claim to hate Brussels sprouts are being converted at restaurants everywhere, so I’m fairly confident that it’s all in the preparation.

These Air-Fried Brussels Sprouts don’t at all resemble the soggy, sad, stinky little cabbages we grew up with – boiled far beyond the point of recognition. Mushy. You’d enter the door just in time for dinner, take one whiff, and your first reaction would be to turn around – RUN!

Nor do they resemble the deep-fried fare you find on restaurant menus. Deep-frying is an indulgence that I only experience when eating out. BTW, you should check out the Crispy Brussels Sprouts at Fenton River Grill – the best I’ve had! I do love friend foods, but at home I try to find lighter, healthier ways of preparing my food.

Enter the Air Fryer, one of my most beloved kitchen appliances. I use it in myriad ways, and it’s the perfect way to prepare lowly Brussels sprouts, roasting them until their natural sweetness has been coaxed out and the crispy outer leaves are charred just right. Drizzle them with a sticky tamari lime sauce or Maple Chili Crisp, and you’ll be happy to dine in this evening.

Air-Fried Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts
  • olive oil spray
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Prep the Brussels sprouts – Wash the Brussels sprouts and trim off any leaves that are less than perfect. Then slice the Brussels sprouts from top to bottom, and add them to a large bowl. Spray generously with olive oil spray and toss with salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Preheat the air fryer and cook – Preheat your air fryer to 400℉. Place the Brussels sprouts cut side down in the basket of your air fryer, and cook for 10 minutes, or until they're charred on the outside and have reached your desired level of tenderness on the inside.
  • Adorn, and serve – Take the Brussels sprouts out of the air fry and arrange them on a serving platter. Drizzle with your favorite sauce, and serve right away.
